Listenin’ to the Blues

Sittin’ up late into night,
Burning the midnight oil.
Listenin’ quietly to the blues,
Alto sax at a full boil.

Swayin’ solemnly side to side,
Baleful voice in full throat.
Lost in my own heady world,
Barely stayin’ afloat.

Addin’ its own soulful anthem,
The organ slides into the mix.
Melancholy drippin’ from every note,
My reality does transfix.

Fingers slidin’ across the strings,
Of the sensuous electric guitar.
Lullin’ me out of my very essence,
Into a dream scape beyond the stars.

Playin’ those blues into the night,
Escapin’ from life’s heavy toll.
Each note pulsing its sad refrain,
Etchin’ its memory into my soul.

Amy Adams!!!!!

Andy

The room was full of mourners,
With folks of every age.
Paying heartfelt tribute,
Writing his final page.

Andy died too young you see,
A life ended before it’s time.
With many chapters left to fill,
He was cut down in his prime.

Andy had a heart of gold,
Of him it’s always spoken.
With his goofy grin and twinkling eyes,
His spirit was never broken.

So I’ll shed a tear, and bid goodbye,
To Andy – a man among men.
Rest now in the arms of God,
We’ll miss you Andy.  Amen.

Karen and I will be heading out Wednesday at "O Dark 30" enroute to Cottage Grove, Or.  Sadly the trip is to attend the funeral of Karen's nephew Andrew.  He was working under a car when it came off the jack and crushed him to death.  The funeral is Friday.  Our plan is to then head home on Sunday driving down along the coast, partially for the ocean views and partially to avoid the potential for snow on the passes.
