The Dodgers were eliminated from the playoffs last night losing game 5 of the NLDS to the Washington Nationals 7-3.  Kershaw came in in relief and gave up two home runs on three pitches and Joe Kelly gave up a grand slam to Howie Kendrick in the 10th. 

I wasn't surprised by this result, as I had been predicting for over half the season that the Dodgers couldn't win the World Series this year because they were undisciplined and didn't play team baseball.  Several players had great stats, but it was all about them and not the team.  There was very little bunting a player over, or hitting to the right side etc. 

Dave Roberts employed a constant platoon system in several positions, including the outfield and second and first base. Analytics is the name of the game now days and hitting for the fences on every pitch regardless of the situation.

Sadly, my Twins have, once again, fallen to the dreaded Yankees in the playoffs.  We had a great season winning the central division of the American League.  See ya next year.  

Fall

Now summers gone I’m sad to say,

Another Fall is on the way.

With falling leaves and pumpkin spice,

A cooling shower will sure be nice.

I’ve put away the balls and bats,

I’ve stored away the gloves and hats.

Broke out the scarfs and sweaters too,

And got my shot to stop the flu.

The World Series is just ahead,

And once again my Twins are dead.

The Dodgers trying to break the spell,

Just how they’ll fare; it’s hard to tell.

There’s spooks and goblins in the yard,

With ghosts and skeletons standing guard.

There’s Christmas trees on sale at Lowes,

I’m sorry but that’s how it goes.

So, fall is here, and change is neigh,

I’ll shrug my shoulders and give a sigh.

Then dawn my sweater and grab my rake,

Cuz there’re leaves to rake for heaven’s sake.

Season 2 of "A Discovery of Witches" is being filmed.  Look at those awesome costumes!!  Based on book two of the series, "Shadow of Night,"  Matthew and Diana time travel back to England in 1590. Book two is, in my opinion, the best of the three. I can hardly wait for it to come out.
