Wisconsin governor Walker and his Republican henchmen were able to ram the union busting legislation thru and the governor signed it into law on Friday. I'm sure other Republican controlled states will be following suit. It will be interesting to see how this all comes out as Wisconsin is now talking about recalling several of the Republican senators over this. I believe there is another large rally scheduled for Madison Wi. tomorrow.

Just when you think you've learned all there is to know about the sleaze coming from Governor Walker, I learned this:

In 2009, Wisconsin passed a "contraceptive equality" law that requires health insurance plans in the state that cover prescription drugs to include contraceptives. Proponents argued that the measure was necessary to ensure that commercial health providers - who cover approximately one-third of the state's residents - don't discriminate against women.

Sounds like a good idea. Right?? Well, low and behold, Gov. Walker's just released budget proposal would repeal that law. His budget summary called it an "unacceptable government mandate on employees with moral objections to these issues." Can you say anti-abortion folks boys and girls??

And if that weren't enough, Gov. Walker's budget is also proposing the elimination of the Title V Maternal and Child Health program which is a mix of federal, state, and local funds to provide family planning services. Uninsured men and women can receive medical care for cervical and prostate cancer screening, access to birth control, and testing and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases.

I guess the folks of Wisconsin shouldn't be to surprised about this. When Gov. Walker was on the campaign trail last April, he told the Right to Life convention that during his time as a state legislator he was proud of "trying to defund Planned Parenthood and make sure they didn't have any money, not just for abortion, but any money for anything."

So once again, the pro-life folks don't want you to have an abortion, but they don't want to help you keep from getting pregnant or help with benefits once that fetus is born. It's so typical.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Patricia Heaton who turns 53 years old today. Patricia Helen Heaton was born in Bay Village, Ohio. She attended Ohio State University where she earned a B.A. in drama. Patricia is married to British actor David Hunt and they have four sons. The couple splits time between their homes in Los Angeles and Buckinghamshire, England.

Patricia is known best around our house from her time on the television series "Everybody Loves Raymond." Patricia won two Emmy Awards for "Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series" for her work on the series.

South Dakota is getting ready to pass a law that extends the waiting period for an abortion to 72 hours. Most states require a 24 hour waiting period.

So if you want to have an abortion in South Dakota you will have to see a doctor who is required to interview you to ensure you aren't being forced to have the procedure, set an appointment for the procedure for 72 hours later, and in the meantime, see an adoption counselor who will provide you with all the alternatives to an abortion. Then you must take a form from the counseling office to the doctor's office showing you went to the counseling. Each step is documented and the forms are maintained in a permanent state file. Hmmm???

Yesterday my "needs fuel" light came on and so I stopped at a 76 station off the 57 freeway at Via Verde for gas. The price for regular was $3.95 a gal!!! I bought 4 gallons and went on my way.
