Arizona Republican State Senator Russell Pearce was notified Friday that over 7,000 signatures had been received by the Secretary of State's office to force a recall election for his seat. Senator Pearce, who wrote Arizona's controversial immigration law, has five days to quit his office or file as a candidate for the November election. Pearce will not resign.
The Arizona immigration law, SB1070, or "papers please" as it has become know, was the catalyst behind the recall effort by a citizens group called Citizens for a Better Arizona.
Pearce has the lofty position of the first ever state senate president to be recalled in Arizona State history. Too bad - So sad!!!
