OAKLAND, CA — As
the controversy grows over professional athletes choosing not to stand
during the national anthem to protest what they see as police brutality
and the targeting of minorities by police, one group of teens in
California is joining the ranks of those protesting.
On Tuesday,
the Oakland Unified School District honor band played the Star Spangled
Banner before the Oakland Athletics game and most of the middle and high
school students who make up the band chose to kneel during their
performance to join the growing protest.
