I sat in my living room on Tuesday evening watching the election returns and it became evident early on that Donald Trump was going to win. I am sad today because of the election of Donald Trump as the President of the United States. Terribly sad.
I, like so many others, am afraid for our nation when unfettered capitalism takes hold at the cost of human rights. The current treatment of our Native Americans in North Dakota is a prime example of what we can expect.
I told my wife this morning she should go out and buy a poodle skirt and saddle shoes because we are going to be thrust back into the 50's where women are told to stay in the kitchen and the LGBT quake in the closet. "Others" of every stripe are in peril I fear.
Protests have already started. Officers in WC caught a black man spray painting "fuck Trump" on a wall right out on a major thoroughfare today. More protests are sure to follow.
I may join in.
