Late in Life
I’m late in life, many years have passed.
A flight of stairs can leave me gassed.
My skin is wrinkled, my beard quite gray,
Sometimes my legs just won’t obey.
I greet each morn with grunts and groans,
With aching muscles and creaking bones.
I pause a moment to check my heart,
Then a second more before I start.
I’m standing now, I think I’m straight,
So far, my day is going great.
Now my pills, to start my day,
It’s quite a list I have to say.
A yogurt and a cup of joe,
I wish I had a place to go.
Turn on the tube, watch Price is Right,
Whatever will I do tonight.
