Went down to Fremont Street Thursday evening for dinner and the human spectacle. We had a really good buffet at the Golden Nugget Hotel. I had a mighty fine prime rib dinner.

There are several people dressed in costumes of various stars. Elvis was one of the more popular. They don't exactly charge you to have your picture taken with them, but a gratuity is always welcome.

The overhead music and light show featured music from The Doors.

I'm in Las Vegas at a gun show called SHOT, which stands for sporting, hunting outdoor trade show. It's strictly for dealers, manufacturers, or anyone involved in the sale of these items. It's got thousands of people from all over the U.S. I am here with my friend Steve and his son Jeff, who is a gun dealer, and his friend Gary.

They even sell camo undies for women!!! LOL. I asked one of the ladies at the booth how we find the woman if she is wearing her product. Without even missing a beat, she told me night vision goggles. She then added that this wasn't here first gun show with this product. I guess so.

Last Thursday I had to go to the DMV to renew my drivers license. The notice I received from DMV indicated that I only needed to take a written test for my Class A haz mat endorsement, give a new fingerprint, and take an eye test.

When I arrived I found I could give up my Class A license and just renew my Class C or regular driver's license. I didn't figure I would drive commercially anymore so I gave it up. The other reason I gave it up is because when you have a Class A and get a moving citation it's more points against you if you than a Class C.

So I paid my fees and moved to the photo area and took my photo. I then realized that I had to take a written test, or at least one half of the test. I took the test cold and missed one question out of twenty. I didn't know that it was a violation for an adult driver to smoke in his/her car with a juvenile present.

In what can only be described as an unfortunate coincidence, this billboard was on display in Tucson, Az. for quite some time before the attempted assassination of Representative Giffords. It was taken down yesterday.

Thousands of people attended Sunday's Christmas Parade.

While there were 100 entries and thousands of participants, one group is getting a lot of the attention. Freedom of and freedom from religion has become a talking point throughout town after an atheist group openly expressed their beliefs during Sundays B/CS Christmas Parade. 18 people made up the Atheist Vuvuzela Marching Band which paraded down Texas Avenue while playing "Jingle Bells" on vuvuzela horns.

The decision to parade though didn't sit well with many of those in attendance. "Wasn't exactly happy about the Christmas Parade this year. I spent many years teaching my children to love and respect other people, the fact that they were children of god, and I don't feel they should be influenced in any other way especially not at a Christmas Parade," said Tina Corgey, who is a lifelong Bryan resident.

"If you have younger children they weren't going to understand, but I have older children, a teenager, 8-year-old, and they were curious and they asked questions, and it was hard for them to believe and understand that there are actually people out there that don't believe in God," Corgey added.

KAMU-FM, a sponsor of the parade, said, "you've heard the phrase, "What would Jesus do?" and so that was something that was mentioned today and the thought that Jesus probably would have wrapped his arms around 'em and welcomed 'em to the event. I hope our community will be big enough to rise above this and do exactly the same thing."

These are the horns they were playing. I don't know how I missed this before. What a great idea. It would seem that the radio station had the best take on the whole thing. Funny how the mother was upset over the thought of her children being exposed to and idea different than her Christian upbringing.

Abbey, aka, Pauley Perrette, of the CBS crime series NCIS at the recent People's Choice Awards earlier this week. Her strapless dress features the NOH8 (no hate) campaign's logo. You may remember the NOH8 campaign for raising funds and awareness to defeat Proposition 8, California's gay marriage ban.

My friend Steve posted this photo on facebook yesterday when the snow started to fall at his house. The upper desert got several inches of snow. We got about a 1/2 inch of rain.

Hearing rumbles that the price of gas will continue to go up and may reach $5.00 a gal by 2012. I guess it won't matter much if the world is coming to an end in 2012 anyway. Huh Corey???

We've had lots of weather in the last week. Earlier we got another 1/2" of rain in a quick moving storm. More rain is due over the next three days. According to my unofficial rain gauge, we've had about 14" of rain so far. I was hoping to take the Xmas lights down tomorrow. Perhaps between showers???

We've also had some clear cold days. Well, cold for us is highs in the low 50's and lows in the high 30's. As you can see, our local mountains have received some snow. More snow expected tonight as well.

Corey had surgery on his right foot a couple of days after Christmas to rebuild his arch. The vicadin seems to be managing the pain, but the itching is making him crazy. As you can see, we are trying ice to ease the itching. Part of the problem is the splint on the back and both sides of his leg, and not being able to feel the ice thru the splint. Using a hair drier was also suggested, but we can't get the air down the splint to the itchy part.
