The NHL lockout is over!!!  Hockey will start back up in a week or so.  Looks like they will get in half of the season.

 

This takes us back to an earlier post where the Christians are pissed off that organized prayer is disallowed in school.  Many even went so far as blaming the recent school shooting in Connecticut on the lack of prayer in schools.  But they only want Christian prayer in the schools.  They only want the Christian God in the schools. 

Happy birthday to Bonnie Franklin who turns 69 years old today. Ms. Franklin starred in the television series, "One Day at a Time" from 1975 to 1984. The ground breaking series revolved around a single mother raising two daughters and dealt with such controversial topics (for its time) as pre-marital sex, suicide, sexual harassment and more. The series also starred Valarie Bertinelli and Mackenzie Phillips as her daughters and Pat Harrington Jr. who played the building super

 

On January 3rd, one of my favorite naturalists, Helen Mirren, received a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. 

 

Ah, therein lies the rub. The right wing religious extremists want more religion in the way the nation's government is run, but closer inspection will reveal that what they really want in more Christian religion in the way the government is run.

As you know, I support every one's 1st amendment right to freedom of speech, but this group has taken hate speech to a new level.  They protest the funerals of, among others, military causalities because the military allows gays and lesbians to serve openly. 

 

Since January 1st is the traditional day to start a new diet, I thought this would be an appropriate post. Of course many of the ads on the television machine this morning have been for diet companies.  I would like to lose about 30 lbs this year, but I'm not gonna stress over it.

Stockings and bicycles!!!  Doesn't get any better than that!!!
