Ellen DeGeneres spoke briefly on the vote to allow gays into the Boy Scouts of America. The vote was to have occurred last Wednesday, but was postponed for a month. She doesn't mention it here, but some religious groups are talking about dropping their financial support for the Boy Scouts over this matter. Another example of "Christian Love."

Yesterday I mentioned that I would like to see the movie "Alice in Wonderland", and low and behold, Corey has it in DVD. So last night I watched the movie for the first time. I really enjoyed it. Lots of great makeup work.
Johnny Depp plays the "Mad Hatter" and I thought he did a great job. I could even see a little of "Jack Sparrow" in his Mad Hatter character.

A pastor in Connecticut has apologized for taking part in a vigil for the victims of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School because his church does not allow worshiping with other faiths.
Rev. Rob Morris of Newtown's Christ the King Lutheran Church offered a letter of apology after he was reprimanded by church president Matthew Harrison for "joint worship with other religions," according to the Religion News Service. King Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, which bans ministers from praying alongside Muslims, Jews or even other Christians.
Morris had provided the closing benediction at the Dec. 16 vigil in Newtown.
"There is sometimes a real tension between wanting to bear witness to Christ and at the same time avoiding situations which may give the impression that our differences with respect to who God is, who Jesus is, how he deals with us, and how we get to heaven, really don't matter in the end," Harrison wrote in his letter of reprimand. "There will be times in this crazy world when, for what we believe are all the right reasons, we may step over the scriptural line." http://www.washingtonpost.com/national/on-faith/lutheran-pastor-apologizes-for-praying-at-newtown-vigil/2013/02/06/0dfeffc2-7091-11e2-b3f3-b263d708ca37_story.html

Note: And these people see nothing wrong with this thinking. A letter of reprimand for praying next to other worshipers, even other Christians!! I guess that would be admitting that they were all praying to the same god. You can't have that after all.
I feel it my responsibility to let my followers know that former Olympic gold metal swimmer Amanda Beard is pregnant with her second child. She and her husband, photographer Sacha Brown, have a two year old son.
Amanda won a total of 21 medals, including five gold, thirteen silver, and three bronze. Amanda wrote an autobiography entitled, "In the Water They Can't See You Cry: A memoir." where she chronicles her struggles with bulimia, self-mutilation, depression, and drug use.

Had a great birthday yesterday, the 6th. I met my son Scott at Canter's Delicatessen in the Fairfax District of LA for lunch and we celebrated our birthdays together. Scott's birthday is the 13th so we usually get together and celebrate.
If you've never been to Canter's, you've really missed a treat. My Ruben sandwich was about that size. They serve it with french fries and the best pickles. I brought half of the sandwich home for lunch tomorrow. Mmmmm Mmmmmm!!!!

On the way home, I stopped at Starbucks and got my free birthday frappaccino. Then went home and took a nap. Karen took me to an Ontario Reign hockey game that evening where we had stadium hot dogs and sodas. The Reign even managed to win the game 4-2. A perfect day.

I once owned a pair of ice skates that probably looked a lot like this. When I lived in Minnesota I used to ice skate and play hockey on a lake in the town I lived in. The lake would freeze so hard that you could drive a car on it. A portion of the lake was sectioned off for ice skating and there was a small shack with a heater in it that we could go into and warm up. I can still remember the sound and smell of our cotton mittens on the heater melting the ice from them. I don't know if I would still be able to skate today after spraining my ankles so many times. My son Josh goes ice skating. I should go with him one day and give it a try. What's a few bumps and bruises.

Happy Groundhogs Day. The rodent came out this morning and didn't see his shadow. In Pennsylvania in February. Why are we surprised. LOL
So Spring is on the way.
That means that professional baseball pitchers and catchers report to Spring Training next week. Baseball is just around the corner!!! Hurrah!!!

Rode figure 8's around Puddingstone Lake and Brackett Airport today. It's about 9 miles for each figure 8, and I did two. The weather was in the high 70's, more than 20 degrees warmer than Monday's ride. It's always much nicer to ride in a short sleeved jersey than three layers of clothing, including nylon sweat pants.
Got a little mud on the tires today. I have to cross this small creek twice for each figure 8, so I went thru it four times.
Must have been a great ride as I even got mud on my leg.
