Several days ago I read the rumor that as mayor of Wasilla, Sarah Palin tried to ban certain books from the city library. I didn't want to post anything on it until more inquiry was done.
Today I found that ABC News has done a report on the subject and here are their findings. ABC reporter Brian Ross went to Wasilla and found that Sarah Palin did in fact ask the city's librarian, Mary Ellen Edmonds, at a city council meeting "how books might be banned?"
According to the report, "The librarian took a deep breath and said, the books in the collection were purchased in accordance with national standards and professional guidelines, and I would absolutely not allow you to remove any books from the collection." A few weeks later the librarian was fired by Sarah Palin, only to be reinstated after a community uproar.
During this time, Sarah Palin was a member of the local Assembly of God church. The church and other conservative Christians began to focus on certain books available in the library and local books stores including "Go Ask Alice" and "Pastor I am Gay."
So I went to Amazon.com to see what these books were all about. According to customer reviews on that website, "Go Ask Alice" has been around for years, been required reading in many schools. and deals with the diary of a teenage drug addict who dies of an overdose. Wikipedia describes the book as, "a controversial 1971 book about drug abuse that is considered a classic of American young adult literature."
"Pastor I am Gay" according to Amazon.com was billed as "a loving look at a misunderstood minority." It was written by a Baptist minister who, "challenges Christian churches to to re-examine their ideas and prejudices and to look at gays and lesbians as the human beings they are, as diverse a group as any other."

Sarah Palin as vice president and possibly president really scares me. She has shown that she is not afraid to mix her religious views with her political decisions. She also has shown that she has little or no knowledge of the law, especially when it comes to firing employees because they don't agree with her or do her bidding. Is this who you want in the White House?? I for one do not!!!
