At the end of play on Sunday, my beloved Minnesota Twins were a 1/2 game ahead of the Chicago White Sox in the central division of major league baseball. They had won 4 of 6 games in the week including beating the White Sox three straight in the Metrodome.
But the White Sox had had a game rained out earlier in the season and had to make it up to finish out their season. So they went to Detroit and beat the Tigers setting up today's one game playoff for the division championship.
The Twins lost that game today, 1-0, on a home run by slugger Jim Thome his 34th of the year and 541st of his career. As they say in baseball, there's always next year.
