I just read on KNX1070.com that Joe Torre will be retiring from his managers position with the Los Angeles Dodgers at the end of this season. Hitting coach, Don Mattingly, former star of the New York Yankees, is rumored to be taking his place.

Joe Torre turned 70 years old in July of this year. He has won 2,318 games in his managerial career that includes time with the Dodgers, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals, and the dreaded New York Yankees. Joe was selected as the "Manager of the Decade" by the "Sporting News."

Joe Torre was also a player. The nine-time all-star played for the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, and the St. Louis Cardinals. Joe was a catcher, third baseman and first baseman. He was the "Most Valuable Player" in the National League in
1971 when he won the batting championship with a .363 average and led the league with 137 RBI's
