Newsman John L. Perry (shown) in a column on the conservative website Newsmax suggests that a military coup to "resolve the Obama problem" is becoming possible and is not unrealistic.

Sadly, there is also a new website entitled www.impeachobamacampaign.com. The website claims that President Obama has "some malevolence toward this country, which is unabated."

Is this the standard response by Republicans to a Democratic president or are there those who are really really pissed that the president is a black man.

Where is the national outrage over such thoughts? He is the President of the United States of America!! If another country were to make such attacks we would be irate.

We are a country that prides itself on freedom of speech, but this seems over the line to me.

SCIENTISTS HAVE discovered a giant ring around Saturn, the biggest yet discovered in the solar system.

The “supersized ring”, as it being called by the scientists from the University of Virginia who discovered it, is so big it would span the width of two full moons worth of sky if you could see it from Saturn.

Saturn’s rings were first discovered almost exactly 400 years ago by Galileo Galilei and are visible with even the smallest telescopes, but this ring is only visible in the infra-red light and was first spotted by Nasa’s Spitzer Space Telescope.

It is about 10 times the diameter of Saturn and orbits at a distance of eight million kilometres from the planet.

It covers a volume of space which would contain a billion Earths though it is made of an extremely tenuous film of dust from Phoebe, one of Saturn’s outer moons.

My grandson, Ethan, and his latest catch!!

Twins Win!!!

After a 4 1/2 hour marathon baseball game, my Minnesota Twins defeated the Detroit Tigers 6-5 to win the central division of the American League of major league baseball. The Twins are the first team in major league history to be three games behind with four games left in the season and win the division. Of course it took a one-game playoff game to decide the winner, but win they did.

The Twins were behind 3-0 after three innings but battled back to tie and even go ahead once. They finally won in the bottom of the 12th inning on a single to right field by by Alexi Casilla that scored Carlos Gomez.

The Twins now travel to New York to take on the Yankees. The first game of that series starts Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. Go Twins!!!

I went to the Los Angeles Pagan Pride Day Festival Sunday at Whittier Narrows Park. It was a cool fall day, that was partly cloudy and about 68 degrees. The turn out was twice as many as last year.

One of the perks of being retired is not having to wake up to an alarm clock, or the ringing of the telephone. I don't have to jump out of bed and run around getting ready to go somewhere. This morning I opened my eyes and looked at the clock at 7:33a.m. I laid there for awhile wondering what the day holds and woke up again at 7:50a.m. I lay in bed awhile longer stretching and wondering who is home this morning.

I finally get up, use the bathroom, put on some clothes, and take my blood pressure. (127/74) I come out of the bedroom and find that Josh and Corey are still home. Karen has been gone for over an hour.

I grab a glass of orange juice and fire up my laptop. An email from my friend Jack tells me my letter to the opinion section of the local newspaper has been printed. I check a few of my regular websites such as KNX1070.com and msn.msnbc.com for what's new this morning.

My Minnesota Twins ended the regular baseball season tied for first place with the Detroit Tigers and will play a game on Tuesday to decide the league championship. Both the Angels and Dodgers won their divisions.

Corey pops out of his room with his cell phone in his hand. He is off to work at noon to work security at Chaffey H.S. Josh comes out a short time later, off to work at the theater at 10:00 a.m.

I have my breakfast while reading the newspaper. Honeynut Cheerios!! My letter on dominionism will hopefully make some people stop and think. I'm sure it will rattle some.

I need to do my chores and then I'm off for a bike ride.

Sunday will be the October Full moon or Blood Moon. It is also called the Falling Leaf Moon, or Hunter's Moon. The autumn moon is a time to celebrate the harvest and give thanks to the Goddess for her blessings.

This is the time of new goals, protection, resolution, and spirituality. This is a good time to reflect on the past and to evaluate your accomplishments. Many will be counting the days until Halloween. Thanks to www.apagantapestry.blogspot.com for the info.

Dance naked in the blessings of the Moon Goddess!!

Karen and I went to the Los Angeles County Fair this afternoon. We had two free passes and a free parking pass, so it was a win - win situation.

I found the perfect sun visor at the fair. It comes with it's own hair!!

My beautiful wife out for a spin!!

Plenty of yummy things to eat!!!

Deep fried Twinkies!!!

For the Dodger fan who has everything!!!

The parade featured the city of West Covina. This unit contained Chief Wells, Chief Fernald, and Chief Fernald's lovely wife. The one motor officer I recognized was Officer Mike Harden.

It was a great afternoon. Since we finished early, we went to dinner at Ray's Tepeac in Covina for taquitos and a hollenbeck burrito.

I went for a 20 mile bike ride today. It was a beautiful day with clear skies and a temperature of about 78 degrees. Oh, did I forget to mention the 20 mph Santa Ana winds?? I was doing 20 mph traveling S/B without hardly pedaling. I won't talk about the opposite direction. :-(

This is a billboard put up by the Memphis Gay and Lesbian Community Center in the Memphis area. The Marine is an actual Marine who was kicked out of the service for being gay.

Sadly, the billboard was torn down by vandals within ten days of it being put up.

This is the Wheel of the Year. The Wheel of the Year is a Wiccan and Neopagan term for the annual cycle of the earth's seasons. It consists of eight festivals, spaced at approximately even intervals throughout the year.

The holiday of Autumn Equinox fell this year on September 22nd. It is a festival of thanksgiving for the fruits of the earth and a recognition of the need to share them to secure the blessings of the Goddess and God during the winter months.

Bet you can't guess where we had dinner tonight?? This Bob's Big Boy is in Corona on Hamner south of 6th St. I had a tasty Reuben sandwich.

This will bring back some memories for some of you. Today while out riding around Puddingstone, I saw the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department driving school running a skid pan.

Went for a bike ride today at Puddingstone Lake. It was a great day for a ride. Mid 70's, nice breeze. It's about 8 miles around the lake and airport, so I did two circles of the lake and one figure 8 of the lake and the airport for a total of 25.5 miles.

I found a really nice path that runs along the street on the north side of the park about 5' inside the park. The path runs the entire length of the north side of the lake. I like riding on dirt more than pavement.

As you can see, it was a really nice day at the lake. The lake itself was pretty empty with just a couple of sea doos and a few fishermen on the lake.

I went for a bike ride today (Sat). Left the house around noon and rode 26.5 miles. About 22 miles into the ride I passed Colony H.S. and their marquee said it was rather warm. Their temperature gauge is usually a little high, so I don't think it was much over 100 degrees.

I could have used a break here but, as you can see, there was no stopping the entire block!!!

Thursday I went on a ride with my friend Jack from Anaheim Stadium to the Huntington Beach Peir. 34 miles in all. It was a nice ride and enjoyed the time with Jack.

Friday evening Karen and I went to a Colony H.S. football game at their home field. It was a beautiful evening at the stadium after another day in the low 100's.

It was a close game until late in the 4th quarter when Colony scored twice to put it away and win going away 30-10.

It's always fun to go to their games, both for the game and to watch the crowd. We are also big boosters of the band since Corey was once a band member.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to a television star and role model of my formative years, and as it turns out, a local boy Kent McCord, who turns 67 years old today. Kent Franklin McWhirter was born in Los Angeles and grew up in Baldwin Park, California. Kent and his wife Cynthia have three children, two daughters, Kristen and Megan, and a son, Michael.

I learned a ton of stuff about Kent from his website, http://www.kentmccord.com/. One of Kent's first jobs was working at his father's Richfield gas station which was located near what is now the intersection of the 10 and 605 freeways.

At the age of 12, Kent got a job at Brackett Field Airport in La Verne where he worked weekends and summers for five years. Being too young to be paid, Kent received flying lessons in lieu of pay

Kent was a star on the Baldwin Park H.S. football team. After graduation he attended Citrus Jr. College before receiving a scholarship to the University of Utah to play football.

In 1961 he was asked to play in a touch football game. His team was captained by Ricky Nelson and the opposing team was captained by Elvis Presley. He became close friends with Ricky Nelson and started acting on "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet." He also had small parts in several Elvis Presley movies including, "Viva Las Vegas", "Girl Happy", and "Roustabout."

In 1965, Kent signed a contract with Universal and appeared in "McHale's Navy," "The Virginian," and "Dragnet." "Dragnet" led to his role as "Officer Jim Reed" in the television series "Adam-12" with Martin Millner as his partner, "Pete Malloy." The series ran from September 1968 through May of 1975.

As a side note, the "Adam-12" series is what started my interest in law enforcement. I was working in the print shop for the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District and bored out of my mind running hundreds and hundreds of forms on a 1250 multilith printing press. Adam-12 made police work look so glamorous.

I tested for L.A.P.D. and was placed on the waiting list for the academy. At the time veterans were coming home from the Vietnam War and being placed higher on the waiting list than me because of their 10 points for being a veteran. I joined the U.S. Army in May of 1974 and became a Military Policeman. I got out in May of 1977 after serving 32 months at Ft. Hood, Tx. I was hired by Covina P.D. in December of 1977 and started the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Academy in January of 1978. Class 188!! The rest of my 27 year career is, as they say, history.
