My beloved Minnesota Twins start the Major League Baseball division playoffs on Wednesday against the dreaded New York Yankees. The Twins won the Central Division Championship over a week ago and the Yankees became the "wild card team" for the American League today. The Texas Rangers will play the Tampa Bay Rays in the other division playoff series.

Its been announced that the Twins' slugging first baseman, Justin Morneau, will not be available for the division playoffs, but will be available for the championship series. Morneau suffered a concussion right around the all star break and has been out of the lineup ever sense.

In the National League, the San Francisco Giants won the National League Western Division on the last day of the season beating the San Diego Padres. The Giants will play the Atlanta Braves and the Cincinnati Reds will play the Philadelphia Phillies.
