On Friday, October 10th, the Connecticut Supreme Court ruled if favor of same sex marriage. In a 4-3 decision, Connecticut became the third state to approve same sex marriage. The court ruling said in part;
"We conclude that, in light of the history of pernicious discrimination faced by gay men and lesbians, and because the institution of marriage carries with it a status and significance that the newly created classification of civil unions does not embody, the segregation of heterosexual and homosexual couples into separate institutions constitutes a cognizable harm."
The tides seem to be turning. Compassionate, progressive thinking people are continuing to rally around the idea that "the institution of marriage carries with it a status and significance" that is the right of both straight and same sex couples.
So get out and vote "no" on Proposition 8 on November 4th. Preserve equality for all. Don't let the divisive hate mongers deny our brothers and sisters their right to marry the person they love.
