Happy Birthday Elisabeth Shue

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Elisabeth Shue who turns 45 years old today. Elisabeth Judson Shue was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Elisabeth attended Wellesley College and Harvard University, later graduating from Harvard with a BA in Government in 2000. Known as "Lisa" to her friends and family, Elisabeth is married to director Davis Guggenheim and they have three children, two daughters and one son.

Elisabeth started her acting career doing commercials for Hellman's mayonnaise, DeBeers diamonds, and Burger King. In 1984, she landed her first star roll as the girlfriend of Ralph Macchio in "The Karate Kid". From there she went to "Adventures in Babysitting", "The Marrying Man", and "Cocktails" with Tom Cruise.

My favorite Elisabeth Shue roll is Dr. Emma Russell in "The Saint" with Val Kilmer. She was also in "Back to the Future II and III and in the movie "Hollow Man". She apparently did quite well in the movie "Leaving Las Vegas" with Nicolas Cage as she was nominated for an Academy Award, a BAFTA, Golden Globe, and SAG award for Best Actress.

Elisabeth is currently filming a psychological thriller, "Walking Madison", and may hook up again with Val Kilmer in a western entitled "The Hard Ride".
