Went for a bike ride yesterday (Sunday) along the Santa Ana River in Norco. This time I added about 4 miles of dirt and hills to the ride. Ended up riding 22 miles.
The weather was a bit chilly and windy. Didn't see any critters of note. Saw one skinny squirrel that I wanted to offer my Gatorade to it was so skinny.

Marshfield man charged with attempt to Kill Abortion Doctor
Ralph W. Lang, 63, who told authorities he came to town with a gun, bullets and plans to kill an abortion doctor, was charged with attempted first-degree murder on Friday.
Lang went on to say that after shooting an abortion provider at a Planned Parenthood facility in Madison was next going to an abortion clinic in Milwaukee.
A portrait of Lang emerged as an unemployed loner who grew up on a farm with 10 siblings. He has strong anti-abortion convictions and had previously protested - and been arrested in 2007 - at the same Planned Parenthood facility. At that time Lang told police "the bible states that anyone involved in abortion should be executed."
Lang was discovered by police in a Motel6 after he accidental fired his handgun into an adjoining room. He told police then that he purchased the gun to "lay out abortionists because they are killing babies."
So much for "love god and love one another."

Had a brief conversaton this morning on facebook with Billie Joe Lee. It seems that he has joined the ranks of the retired. His last day with Ontario P.D. was May 7th. He and I worked together on the DUI team back in the mid 80's. He used to drop by my house every once in awhile on duty and chat. He retired as a Sgt. If I find an email address for him I'll pass it along or those of you on facebook can friend him.
Rode to the beach from "The Big A" and back yesterday. Didn't go all the way to the pier because I was getting tired. Had quite a head wind going down and a quite nice tail wind going back. This was the view from the first bathroom along the boardwalk. It was pretty nice at the beach. There was a 1:00 PM baseball game at the stadium so I had to weave thru traffic to get to the bike trail. I know, if I left earlier.... I'm just not a morning person.

Wish I had written this!!
Letter to the editor: 05-23-11
Blurring the Line
How would you like to find atheist literature on your front door? Maybe a large monument every few blocks denouncing religion as mass indoctrination? How about standing in line at the store only to have agnostic propaganda shoved in your hand? Then you try to get to your car without some non-believer begging for your money to further their cause?
How many so-called Christians would stand for this treatment?
Well, quit whining because this is what non-believers encounter every day.
So, here you go, Daily Bulletin. I'm tired of a certain letter writer's doom-and-gloom rants. (Re: "The Man," April 24.) I'm sick and tired of blurred lines between religion and politics. I'm weary of the mass assumptions that equate religion with being patriotic.
Your apparent unwillingness to provide equal space for just as extreme opposing views only reinforces my opinion of pious, self-righteous, religious hypocrites.

Went for a 20 mile bike ride today. Rode along the Santa Ana River in Norco. It was a bit chilly and windy at first. Didn't see any snakes, but did see a raccoon.
Looks like either Mother Nature or the local maintainance folks have cleared a lot of the river of trees.
This is the bike jersey that Jack has designed for his team for the Tahoe ride in a couple of weeks.

Imagine there's no heaven,
It's easy if you try.
No hell below us,
Above us only sky.
Imagine all the people,
Living for today.
Imagine there's no countries,
It isn't hard to do.
Nothing to kill or die for,
And no religion too.
Imagine all the people,
Living life in peace.
You may say that I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us,
And the world will be as one.
Imagine no possessions,
I wonder if you can.
No need for greed or hunger,
A brotherhood of man,
Imagine all the people,
Sharing all the world.
You may say that I'm a dreamer,
But I'm not the only one.
I hope someday you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.

Follow-up:
You may recall a blog entry I made back in April where Texas Governor Rick Perry asked Texans of all religious denominations to pray for rain to end their drought. Well, I'm here to report that Texas is still in a drought and all their prayers didn't bring rain or an end of their drought. I'm just saying....
