As some of you may know, I am in a fantasy baseball league that my son Josh organized.  Every week of professional baseball is a game for the league.  My team has a record of 0-4.   Last week's game was a heart breaker.  I was ahead 337 to 336 and my opponent had one player still active in the evening game.  Of course that player was the Detroit Tigers' slugger Prince Fielder.  He singled in his first at bat which tied the score.  His second at bat he made an out.  His last at bat was a walk and I lost.  ON A STUPID WALK!!!  UGH!!!

Good news - bad news.  The good news - I received my Abbey bobble head doll in the mail today. The bad news - it was damaged.  Both her legs are broken.  Back she goes I'm afraid.

I can't believe what I saw this morning. There was a pursuit that channel 5 news was following with the CHP following a stolen vehicle in Thousand Oaks.  The suspect vehicle makes a right turn at an intersection and the CHP unit does a PIT maneuver causing the suspect vehicle to lose control and collide into the center divider.  The CHP unit ends up hitting the suspect vehicle again and comes to a stop facing the suspect vehicle.

Nothing unusual so far right?? Then the officer from the CHP unit that just did the PIT maneuver gets out of his car and approaches the suspect vehicle and points his weapon at the suspect thru the passenger side window!!!  Now it's been almost ten years since I've been in a police car, but hasn't the CHP learned how to do a felony car stop yet??  Unbelievable!!!  Here's the tape.  http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-police-chase-thousand-oaks-20130419,0,1786801.story

Happy Birthday wishes go out to my son Corey who turns 25 years old today. He'll be heading out this evening to work security at the Coachella music festival this weekend.  Happy Birthday Corey!!

There are so many stories of heroism at the Boston Marathon bombings. This is the story of 15 active duty soldiers from the Massachusetts National Guard who walked the entire Boston Marathon in fatigues, boots, and carrying 40 lbs packs on their backs. They did this to honor fallen comrades and raise money for charity.

It took the group about eight hours to complete the course, which put them at the finish line when the bombs went off.  1st Sgt Bernard Madore, who served two deployments in Iraq said, "I've seen bombs go off.  This was by far one of the most horrific scenes."

The group quickly sprang into action pulling down the fence to allow access to the victims.  Members of the group pulled debris off of the victims, and is one case, removed burning clothes from one victim.  They assisted in preparing victims for triage and later stood guard at the scene until relieved by law enforcement personnel.  Each one a true hero!!!

Pretty day for a bike ride.  Two fig 8's around Puddingstone Lake and Brackett Field added up to 18 miles.  As you can see, the sky was bright blue and the temperature was in the low 70's.

It's a nice change of pace ride with lots of hills and dirt paths to negotiate. There's even a small stream to cross.  Just around the bend in the above photo was a tree that fell across the path, so I had to squeeze around that.

Bombs at the Boston Marathon. Three dead, over one hundred and seventy-six wounded.  The news is now saying a suspect has been arrested from surveillance videos from the area where the second bomb was left.  Waiting to hear who he is and why he did this.

NO WAIT!!!  At 11:30 am on Wednesday CNN is saying that no one has been arrested.  "The situation is very fluid.  There has been a misunderstanding."  LOL

New Zealand has become the 13th country to legalize same-sex marriage.  Prime Minister John Key is quoted as saying, "In my view, marriage is a very personal thing between two individuals, and in the end, this is part of equality in modern-day New Zealand.

The sponsor of the bill, Louisa Wall added, "in our society, the meaning of marriage is universal - it's a declaration of love and commitment to a special person.  Nothing could make me more proud to be a New Zealander than passing this bill."

I couldn't agree more.  I'm looking forward to the day when the US will become "modern-day."

Received this from my good friend Jack.  Thanks Jack.

I'd like to be a witch. 'Cept for the cat part. Probably blow myself up.  Just finished reading a novel about a witch entitled, "Shadow of Night" by Deborah Harkness.  It's the second of three.  The first is entitled "A Discovery of Witches."  I'm anxious for the third book to come out.  The second book takes place in 16th century England with Queen Elizabeth and Sir Walter Raleigh and William Shakespeare to name a few.  I recommend both books very much.
