Sorry to hear of the passing of Mark Tedesco, WCPD I.D. #149, this morning.

May 1st, "May Day" is international workers day.  Occupy wall street is marking the day with protests and marches all over the US.  You can be a part by just doing nothing.  Don't shop or buy gas or spend any money anywhere.

My body reminded me that I'm 60 years old this week after my four mile hike in the mountains on Monday.  My legs were so sore this week that I could hardly walk and needed to hoist myself up from my chair at work.  Getting in and out of the car was a chore, and I won't bore you with getting up from the toilet.  The legs are better today, so I don't have an excuse to not cut the front lawn.  Should be back on my bike Sunday for a ride to the beach.

Jack and I hiked to Day Creek on Monday.  It is located in the mountains S/E of Hisperia.  It is off of Main St., then a dirt road, to another dirt road, to another dirt road.  It is then a 2 mile walk down into a canyon.  Once there, we found a large swimming hole fed by a river and several hot pools fed from springs that just bubble out of the rocks.

There were about 20-25 people there, with more arriving in the afternoon as we left. Swim suits are optional, and we saw folks in varying degrees of dress.  The area in the foreground of the photo above is one of the hot pools.  It was too hot to sit in very long.  As you can imagine, the water coming down the river was very cold.

Three of the hot springs are in the rock formation shown above.  At the end of the day, we had to make the 2 mile hike back up out of the canyon, which for me was a killer.  I was constantly out of breath, and was never so glad to see my car off in the distance.

Other than the long hike back, the day was quite nice.  We're hoping to find another way into the canyon that doesn't entail the 2 mile hike. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a "hippy hollow" type swimming hole and doesn't mind a steep hike.

This will probably be me tomorrow morning after my mountain hike today.
Last Friday it was 100 degrees here in SoCal. So Karen and I went to our first Quakes baseball game. We lost the game, but it is always a good time at Quakes Stadium.

Karen likes to keep score at the games.

What a cutie!!!

Apparently this genius posted this photo of himself stealing gas from a police car on Facebook.  Imagine his surprise when the locals showed up to arrest him!!!
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Russian tennis star/model Maria Yuryevna Sharapova who turned 25 years old on April 19th. Maria was born in Nyagan, Russia, but has lived in the U.S. since she was 7 years old. She currently has homes in Manhattan Beach, Ca. and Netanya, Israel.  Maria is engaged to Slovenian professional basketball player Sasha Vujacic who plays in Istanbul, Turkey.

I was surprised to read that Maria is 6'2" tall!!

Did I mention Maria plays tennis??

I want you to know I looked thru hundreds of photos of Maria to ensure that you, my loyal readers, received the proper perspective of her.  LOL!!!

Friday afternoon we got thunder and lightning and some pretty good rain.  One clap of thunder shook the house it was so loud.  Haven't had a good thunder storm here in quite awhile.  The same storm caused several funnel clouds over the ocean and later caused lots of tornados in the Midwest.

One of my favorite baseball color men was Rex Hudler, shown here on the right with Steve Physoioc when they were with the Angels.  This teams contract wasn't renewed in 2009.  I found him today as the color man for the Kansas City Royals.

"Hud" was famious for his many quotes.  He called hits knocks, and would say "pilot to bombadiar" when a homerun was hit.  He was a bit ADD I think as he was always tossing a baseball in his hand in the booth.  Good to see him back.

The "The Three Stooges" movie is coming out today, Friday the 13th, and the Catholics aren't too happy with the way a Catholic nun is depicted by Sports Illustrated swim suit model Kate Upton.

Hmm!!!

More rain on the way!!!  Should rain most of the afternoon.  We can sure use it.
That's me!!
