Admit it, you began singing before you finished reading this meme.

Saturday evening Karen and I went to see "Fleetwood Mac" at the Forum. Karen bought me the tickets for our anniversary last May.  They put on a great show with the audience singing along to many of the songs.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Kaley Christine Cuoco-Sweeting, aka "Penny" from the "Big Bang Theory", who turns 29 years old today. Kaley was recently married to professional tennis player Ryan Sweeting.

Food for thought

Friday evening we traveled back in time to Karen's alma mater, Charter Oak H.S., to watch the Colony H.S. Titans take on the Charter Oak Chargers. Karen had to sit on the "visitors side" this night.  Karen is quick to add that since she left the school it has been joined with their cross-town rival Royal Oak H.S. and changed from the Lancers to the Chargers.

There were also many memories for me at that school, having worked at Covina P.D. from '78 to '84.  I made a lot of overtime working football games there.

The game was very exciting with Charter Oak ahead 23-22 and then 26-22.  But Colony came back with a touch down with about 5 minutes left and then scored on an 60 yard interception return to put the game away.

Colony now plays Los Altos this Saturday for the CIF Central Division championship.

Since we were in the area, we ate at one of my favorite Mexican restaurants, El Loco, located on Cypress, just east of Azusa Ave.  There was even a guy with a karaoke machine there, but I couldn't get Karen to sing.

We're getting there.  It's only a matter of time now.

I rode to the beach on Sunday with a great tail wind the entire trip. I usually average 12-13 mph on my bike, but with the Santa Ana winds howling, I was averaging 17-18 mph on the flats even reaching 20 mph.  I got to the beach in 1 1/2 hours.  I felt terrible for all those riders heading east into the winds on their road bikes who were struggling along.  NOT!!  This was my payback for all those times I've ridden into the head winds on my way to the beach.

With the winds howling, it was pretty clear at the beach.

I've never heard of here, but singer, actress, Roselyn Sanchez made quite an impression at the recent Latin Grammy Awards Show at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas.  I hope she didn't pay a lot for that dress.

Saturday Comics

This is Corey in our house. Computers, phones, even the garage door opener.

We give Karen a hard time because her phone is an older model and has buttons.  She calls it her dumb phone.  She says she only uses it to make phone calls and doesn't need all the other fancy stuff.

How true is this?  The Ebola scare has virtually vanished from the news now that the mid-term elections are over.
President Obama had to make an executive order to start to fix the immigration system in this country.  There has been a bill in Congress for years to make some changes, but Congress wouldn't bring it to the floor for a vote. The order doesn't grant amnesty as the Republicans assert, and does provide more money for border security.  The Republicans continue to say they won't pass any new immigration bill until our southern border is secure.  But realistically, that will never happen.  Build a wall the entire length of the border and they will still come across. You can't put a border patrolman every ten feet along the border.

And you know what, I can't blame people for trying to sneak into the U.S. and make a better life for themselves and their children.  We are all the same.  The only difference is that I was lucky enough to be born on this side of some imaginary line that separates two countries.

The Republicans talk a big story about how much "illegals" are so bad for the country, and yet, they provide a cheap labor force for many businesses and do many of the jobs most won't do like picking fruit and vegetables, drying our cars at the car wash, changing the sheets in our hotel room, etc.  Don't forget they are consumers too, something a capitalist nation like the U.S. needs.  They also pay the same taxes we do except income tax.

And finally, unless you are an American Indian, you are descended from an immigrant the same as I am. Isn't whats good for the goose, good for the gander??

Karen and I went to the Colony H.S. CIF quarter finals football game against the Glendora H.S. Tartans.  It was a very exciting game with Glendora scoring field goals on their first two possessions.  It was tied at 27 with four minutes left in the fourth quarter when Colony scored.  We scored again with less than a minute left to make the final score 41-27.
But some things go without saying.  LOL

Happy Anniversary to Fergies Dribble

Next Wednesday, November 26th, will be the 7th anniversary of the start of this blog.  I have published 7,354 riveting blog entries since the start in '07.  I think that is really something for a blog that is probably only read my a half-dozen people.  I'll think I'll carry on, as I still enjoy doing it and still have a thing or two to say.

Happy Birthday Jamie Lee Curtis

Happy Birthday wishes go out today to one of my all-time faves, Jamie Lee Curtis, who turns 56 years young.  Jamie is married to English actor, director, screenwriter, Christopher Guest, and they have two adopted children.  Jamie is the daughter of actors Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh.

Jamie was originally dubbed the "scream queen" for her roles in the "Halloween" movies.  I liked her in "Trading Places" and "True Lies".  She had a five-episode role in NCIS.

Jamie is a big supporter of the Children's Hospital in Los Angeles, where my son Scott works, and can be heard on several of their commercials.

Jamie has also written several children's books with titles like "Tell me Again About the Night I Was Born" and "Big Words for Little People".
