Take a couple of minutes to watch this short video.  You might want to get a hankie before you start as it may pull at the ol' heart strings.  Way cool I think.

This video is another 60's classic with lots of footage from the Vietnam war.  Crank it up.  I can almost see my old sergeant, Jack Vail, hanging out of the side of one of those helicopters with a .50 machine gun.

If the dreaded sequester should go into effect this Friday:

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Chelsea Victoria Clinton who turns 33 years old today.  Chelsea is, of course, the former "first daughter" of former president  Bill Clinton and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Chelsea is married to Marc Mezvinsky, an investment banker, who is the son of former Pennsylvania Democratic Congresswoman Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky and former Iowa Democratic Congressman Edward Mezvinsky. The couple met because their parents were friends.

Chelsea has a BS Degree in history from Stanford University and a Masters Degree from the University College, Oxford. She is pursuing her Doctorate degree at University College, Oxford.

Chelsea was very active in her mother's presidential primary campaign.  I think we will see more of her in politics in the future.

One of the highlights of the Academy Awards tonight was Barbara Streisand singing "The Way We Were" during the memoriam section. The song was a touchng tribute to her friend and writer Marvin Hamlisch.  This was Streisand's first performance at the Oscars since 1977.  She still sounds great!!

Watching the Academy Awards.  Congrats to Daniel Day Lewis for the Best Actor Oscar for his portrayal of Abraham Lincoln.  I really enjoyed the movie and wish Tommy Lee Jones and Sally Field had won as well.

Witch burnings in the 21st Century???

SYDNEY — Papua New Guinea police have charged two people with the grisly killing of a woman who was tortured and burned alive in front of hundreds of people, including young children, after being accused of witchcraft.

Janet Ware and Andrew Watea were charged with murder over the slaying of Kepari Leniata, a 20-year-old mother who was stripped, tortured with a hot iron rod, doused in gasoline and set alight on a pile of car tires and trash by a mob earlier this month.

Leniata had been accused of sorcery by relatives of a 6-year-old boy who had died in a hospital. Ware and Watea are believed to be the boy's mother and uncle, police said in a statement. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/18/papua-new-guinea-witch-burning_n_2709968.html

"You know, that's a really wicked stepmother you have there."

A big rain/snow storm is forecast to hit SoCal tomorrow (Tuesday) into Wednesday.  Got in a ride yesterday from Yorba Linda to Huntington Beach.  The skies were clear with temps in the high 60's, but I rode the entire 28 miles into a steady 10-15 mph headwind.  Kicked my butt.
