Abortion Provider Shot to Death

Dr. George Tiller, 67, was shot and killed in the lobby of the Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas this morning. The suspect is still at large.

The story states, "Tiller has long been a focal point of protest by abortion opponents because his clinic, Women's Health Care Services at 5107 E. Kellogg, is one of the few in the country where late-term abortions are performed."

(Obligatory coroner's photo)

The police have a suspect description and license plate, so an arrest is eminent.

How sad is it that we are still killing each other over religious beliefs.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Clint Eastwood who turns 79 years old today. Clinton Eastwood Jr. was born in San Francisco, California. He is an actor, film director, film producer and composer. He is a five time Academy Award winner as well as winner of five Golden Globe Awards, five Peoples Choice Awards and one Screen Actors Guild Award. Clint Eastwood who has been married twice, currently to anchorwoman Dina Ruiz, has seven children from various women and two grandchildren. He lives in Carmel, California.

Kathy and I went to see the movie, Angels and Demons last Tuesday. We were both a bit disappointed. We both had just read the book and found it quite different than the book. I guess that's to be expected.

It was still quite entertaining, but not up to the level of the book.

Happy belated birthday to Stevie Nicks who turned 61 years old on May 26th. Stevie is the lead singer for Fleetwood Mac as well as having a spectacular solo career. Stephanie Lynn Nicks was born in Phoenix, Arizona. She has been married and divorced once and has no children.

It has been rumored over the years that Stevie Nicks is a witch. You gotta like that in a woman!! She continues to deny the rumor, although she does admit to being a spiritualist.

I didn't realize it has been several days since my last blog entry. Towards the end of the week we really became tired of sight seeing and spent more quality time around the pool. Not a bad option really.

As you can see Karen was looking hot in her suit around the pool.

I was blinded by her beauty!!!

Even though it was pretty cloudy, the sunset was quite impressive.

We arrived home safely on Sunday evening. Our flight from Honolulu was delayed 45 minutes at the gate but arrived within 15 minutes of our projected time of arrival. As always, it's good to go away, and even "gooder" to come home.

Wednesday we drove to the top of the Haleakala volcano. It was 10,023 feet in height. When we got to the top we saw mostly clouds. It was 53 degrees after leaving the hotel at 83 degrees.

We came back to our hotel and hung out at the pool for the rest of the afternoon. When we returned to our room we found that a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries had been delivered. The card read; "Happy Anniversary With Love, Scott and Bruce." What a great surprise. Thanks again guys!!!

We caught the last of the sunset.

Angelina Jolie in a modest little dress at the Cannes Film Festival

Finished reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown on this trip. It was very exciting with lots of twists and turns.

I can hardly wait to see the film!!

We're on leg three of our dream vacation to Hawaii. We flew to Maui Monday morning and drove to our hotel in Kaanapali, Maui. The hotel is a really neat resort hotel and spa with the below view from our hotel room.

After getting settled into our room, we headed out for a short road trip north from our hotel. We ended up at Fleming Beach Park in Honolua Bay. The waves were at least 10' tall and crashing pretty close to the shore. A woman had to be rescued from the water and was taken away on a back board. In all my years of going to the beach, I have never seen an actual rescue done by the life guards. Today ended all of that. None of the life guards were women or looked like a Baywatch babe!! Oh well.

When we got back to our hotel room we found a card and complimentary bottle of champagne celebrating out 25th wedding anniversary. We sat on our patio after dinner and polished off the bottle of champagne.

Sunset from Waikiki Beach!!!
On Saturday we explored the Waimea Canyon. It is called the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.

It was partly cloudy and as the sun peeked through the clouds, the canyon walls seemed to change colors. It was more impressive than the actual Grand Canyon if you ask me.

We tried coconut and coconut milk. I'm not much of a coconut fan to begin with. The milk had a unique taste.

Tourist photo op!!

We drove to the top of the canyon anxiously waiting for the grand finale and what did we find? Clouds!! YUP. Clouds. No vista. No breathtaking canyon. Clouds!!!
Hello from Kauai, Hawaii. Started out our day with breakfast on the veranda and a walk/run on the beach. The tide was high and my run was in deep sand. Kicked my arse!!! After a shower and some laundry, we headed out to the other side of the island to explore and find a beach to swim from. After a stop at Starbucks for a frosty drink, we checked out the Wailua Falls.

After the falls we ended up at a beach Waipouu. On the way we picked up some heavy rain and wind. It wasn't about to stop me from going swimming though.

The ocean water here is about 15-20 degrees warmer than San Onofre. The waves were about 7-8 feet high and could really throw you around when they hit you. It was awesome!!!

After I got out of the ocean we sat on a picnic bench under an awning and watched the waves. The sun broke thru the clouds for about an hour and produced this rainbow. Of course my camera doesn't do it justice.

When the rain let up, we went for a walk along the beach. I found this sign in the area where I had just been in the water. Ooops!!

On our way back, we stopped and picked up Panda Express for dinner and brought it back to our bungalow. Quite tasty. It would appear that our hotel is on the dry side of the island as it didn't rain here all day.

We went on a dinner cruise out of Waikiki on Monday evening on this catamaran. We had a very nice dinner and then entertainment afterward.

We got a pretty decent view of Diamond Head.

The entertainment included this hula dancer.

Then this dancer got into the act!!!

A great sunset topped off the night!!

This was the first morning of our trip when the limo came and picked us up to take us to the airport. Karen was quite surprised to see the limo, and quite pleased.

What an awesome day in Kauai today. We slept in late and then had oatmeal and English muffins for breakfast on our porch.

This is the view looking out from our porch.

After breakfast we went for a walk/run on the beach. I ran about 3/4 of a mile up the beach and then back. Karen walked up the beach ahead of me while I stretched and then back and then down the other way another 1/3 of a mile and back. It was quite a workout as the sand is soft and the entire run was up and down little hills.

After showers we went exploring the island. We found this spout hole that shot quite a gisser of water into the air. We also saw a turtle floating by about 10' out from the rocks.

We drove most of the way around the island and back. We picked up steaks, potatoes, and salad for dinner and had a BBQ on our porch.
