Today we made the short hop from Oahu to Kauai and are staying at the ResortQuest Waimea Plantation Cottages. And as you can see they are individual cottages. This was once a sugar plantation back in the 1890's and made into an a hotel in the early 1900's.

This is the side view of our cottage from the street. The front of the cottage faces out onto a lawn and has a nice size porch and several lawn chairs in the grass in front of the cottage.

This is the living room looking out onto the front porch. It is all windows with screens and bamboo curtains.

It has a full kitchen so we took a trip to the local grocery store for a few supplies. A 12 pack of Pepsi was almost $7.00!!!

This veranda is where the wifi is located. You can see the ocean in the background.

The beaches are black sand beaches and the water seems quite warm, a good 15 degrees warmer than our SoCal beaches.

Tomorrow we plan to set out to explore the island in our rental car. Karen has discovered the geckos and is keeping a wary eye on several that are on the roof over our heads.
