Alice "Nonie" Dubes, 90, a retired elementary school teacher, and Vivian Doyack, 91, a retired payroll clerk, were married in Davenport, Iowa.

Equality Reigns

They laughed, they cried, they lived a life,
Some might say was filled with strife.
Partners for more than 70 years,
Finally married amid their tears.

Two women paired for life you see,
Against the norms of society.
Finally able to legally wed,
“As it should be,” the courts have said.

Come out of the closet and stand with pride,
“We the people,” again applied.
This nation built on diversity,
Equality a certainty.

Rejoice with them, give out a cheer,
Raise a banner, hoist a beer.
Hug the one you love today,
Proud to live in the USA.

Just Marriage

A majority of nine judges has finally stepped in,
And brought about sanity to what some called “sin.”
Marriage is “just marriage” now in all of the land,
No more denying it to some out of hand.

Walk down the aisle with the love of your life,
Turn; greet the crowd, you are husband and wife.
Establish a home, free to move state to state,
File taxes jointly before it’s too late.

We’re witnesses to history, of this there’s no doubt,
There will be some who’ll continue to pout.
Liberty, and justice, and equal rights for all,
Aren’t empty slogans to write on the wall.

Happy Birthday to American Grammy Award singer-song writer, actress, and LGBT activist, Cynthia Ann "Cyndi" Stephanie Lauper who turns 62 years young today.

Cyndi is married to actor David Thorton and they have one adult son, Declyne.

Cyndi is still touring today.

I copied a list of her accomplishments from Wikipedia:

Lauper has established herself as a pop icon[5] winning awards at the Grammy, Emmy, Tony, New York's Outer Critics Circle, MTV VMA, Billboard, and AMA awards.[6] Lauper won the inaugural Best Female Video prize at the 1984 VMAs for Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. This music video is recognized by MTV, VH1 and Rolling Stone as one of the greatest ever music videos.[7][8][9][10] She is featured in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Museum's Women Who Rock exhibit.[11] Her debut album is included in Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time,[12] while Time After Time is included in Vh1's list of the 100 Best Songs of the Past 25 years.[13] VH1 has ranked Lauper No. 58 of the 100 Greatest Women of Rock & Roll.[14]

Father's Day present from Karen

We still tend to buy things on the spur of the moment. Last night after dinner we stopped at the Mattress Train store and looked at conventional beds as we had decided it was time to get rid of our waterbed. it was getting too hard to get out of it.  An hour-and-a-half later we walked out with a new king size bed, frame, and headboard.

So, that means we had to drain the waterbed mattress. What a chore that was.  We had to watch a couple of youtube videos to see how to drain it without a pump.  The siphon system is slow, but it did the job.  It still weighed a ton when Corey and I finally drug it out to the driveway.  I think water is still slowly draining out of it two hours later.

Got in a bike ride today out of Riverside.  It was nice and warm!!  Got back to my car and it was in the 90's.  Only had to wear one shirt.  Rode 25 miles.  Drank lots of liquids.

I worked three days this week, which meant I had to get up early three mornings in a row.  What was I thinking???  I did get my first fingerprint computer hit for WCPD though, so it was a good week.
