Happy Birthday wishes go out to Catherine Zeta-Jones who turns 44 years young today.

Karen bought us tickets to see Val Kilmer as Mark Twain in Ontario in November.  The seats are in the eighth row with a meet and greet backstage afterwards.  I'm so excited!!!  I'm gonna take my "Doc Holiday" photo of him from" Tombstone" for him to sign!!!

My old DUI Team partner, B.J. Lee posted this old photo on Facebook today.  This was the end of an era for WCPD, when we changed over to blue uniforms (circ 1987).  We showed up for briefing all wearing sergeant stripes, and I wore the shorts and tie.  Shown in the photo are (top row from left) Debbie Siedentop, Pete Gonzales,Tommy Garcia, and Jim Short. (bottom) me and B.J. Lee.

What's the saying?  Until you've walked a mile in their shoes?  Here is her story;

today i wore a v-neck to school, something that is totally normal for 99% of the girls there, one of the girls in my french class was wearing one similar to mine in fact.

but my french teacher came up to me and told me that i was out of dress code and that i was asking for something to happen to me.

and all day long i had to slap guys who found it perfectly okay to grab them.

im a 32DDD, 5’1, and 115 pounds. due to this im known around the school as the walking boobs, the girl who grew in other places, and BITS. I constantly get called a whore and a tease.

Girls are always accusing their boyfriends of sleeping with me.

and there have been times when i have had to tell teachers that my eyes are up here.

i grew boobs in the eighth grade, i was a DD then, and i cant tell you how many fights i got into with guys who thought it was alright to stick their faces in them.

the point of all of this is that its bullshit.

i should be able to wear a v neck to school without worrying about who is going to grab my boobs next, or who is going to throw a gum wrapper in them, or what girls are going to say next.

I attended the SCAFO training conference Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.  It was held in Garden Grove.  Saw a few old friends and met some of the next generation of forensic scientists. I attended a refresher fingerprint comparison workshop and heard several interesting speakers.  I even won a gift basket in one of the raffle drawings.

Miss America 2014 was crowned in Atlantic City last night. And the winner is - Miss New York, Nina Davuluri. Nina is 24 years old, born in Syracuse and a practicing Hindu. Why do I add that she is practicing Hindu? Because twitter went crazy afterwards with some lest that accepting comments.

One Twitter user, DallasRobinson8, wrote: “I am literally soo mad right now a ARAB won. #MissAmerica”

Jakeamick5 added: “How the **** does a foreigner win miss America? She is a Arab! #idiots”

Emi_adkins said: “It’s called Miss America. Get outta here New York you look like a terrorist. #bye #americanforamerica”

And another user said: “Well they just picked a Muslim for Miss America. That must’ve made Obama happy. Maybe he had a vote.”

Perhaps we as a civilization aren't as evolved as we would like to think we are.

"Things millennials don’t want: lawns to take care of, extra or "museum" rooms that don’t get used, long commutes, too much space. What they do want: lots of space for entertaining, enough room for the Wii, open kitchens to cook for themselves and their friends, outdoor fire pits, maybe a space for their dog. Oh, and they want to rent. Because of their lack of job security, interest in preserving freedom and flexibility, and the fact that many of them were spooked by the recent housing market crash, millennials don’t see home ownership the way generations before them did. Some demographers have taken to calling them "Generation
