There's no doubt that Clippers owner Donald Sterling is a bigot and the comments he made are indefensible, but, what happened to his First Amendment right to freedom of speech?? The haters from Westboro Church, hiding behind the First Amendment, run around spewing their hatred and no one bats an eye. Sterling gets caught on the tape of a private conversation spewing his hatred and the media goes nuts. There doesn't seem to be any facts that show he acts on his beliefs towards his players. I don't have to like what you have to say, but I will fight for your constitutional right to say it. Can you say media circus boys and girls!!

Karen and I are off to Huntsville, Alabama in the morning to visit my son Brian and his family for a long weekend.  Hopefully our plane will do better than his.

Carol King and Sara Bareillis singing "Beautiful Brave" live at the 2014 Grammy Awards. I'm sure there was no pressure singing live before their peers and millions more on television. What a great performance.

Easter - a pre-Christian pagan holiday, is named after a heathen goddess named Eostra, which is equated with Ostara, a West Germanic goddess of spring time or fertility. The pagan Easter festival was known as Ostarun. The holiday was set to celebrate life renewed after a dark winter with much dancing, eating, and gathering together of family and friends. And maybe even an orgy or two!!!  You know those pagans.

Dear Abby - 02-19-14

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I relocated to Florida a little over a year ago and were quickly welcomed into our new neighbors' social whirl. Two couples in the neighborhood are gay -- one male, one female. While they are nice enough, my husband and I did not include them when it was our turn to host because we do not approve of their lifestyle choices. Since then, we have been excluded from neighborhood gatherings, and someone even suggested that we are bigots!
Abby, we moved here from a conservative community where people were pretty much the same. If people were "different," they apparently kept it to themselves. While I understand the phrase "when in Rome," I don't feel we should have to compromise our values just to win the approval of our neighbors. But really, who is the true bigot here? Would you like to weigh in? -- UNHAPPY IN TAMPA

DEAR UNHAPPY: I sure would. The first thing I'd like to say is that regardless of what you were told in your previous community, a person's sexual orientation isn't a "lifestyle choice." Gay people don't choose to be gay; they are born that way. They can't change being gay any more than you can change being heterosexual.Abby, we moved here from a conservative community where people were pretty much the same. If people were "different," they apparently kept it to themselves. While I understand the phrase "when in Rome," I don't feel we should have to compromise our values just to win the approval of our neighbors. But really, who is the true bigot here? Would you like to weigh in? -- UNHAPPY IN TAMPA
I find it interesting that you are unwilling to reciprocate the hospitality of people who welcomed you and opened their homes to you, and yet you complain because you are receiving similar treatment.
From where I sit, you may have chosen the wrong place to live because it appears you would be happier in a less integrated neighborhood surrounded by people who think the way you do. But if you interact only with people like yourselves, you will have missed a chance for growth, which is what you have been offered here. Please don't blow it.

Henry Aaron put up with a lot of racist BS when chasing Babe Ruth's home run record.  He has stated that he kept a lot of the mail he received as a reminder of how racist the country was.  He was asked recently why he kept all that old mail and part of his response is shown above.  His response has brought on a whole new barrage of hate mail, many laced with racist slurs.  We still have a long way to go towards enlightenment.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to my son Josh who turns 28 today. He is spending his day in an overnight spree in Vegas with friends.

Bob Dylan 50 Years Ago

This a cool video of Bob Dylan singing "Mr. Tambourine Man" at the Newport Folk Festival, Newport, RI. in 1964.  According to Wikipedia Bob Dylan, who wrote the song, didn't release the recording until March of 1965.

Had a nice weekend in Laughlin, Nv. Saturday evening we saw Rascal Flatts at the nearby outdoor stadium. The weather was warm, and there was almost a full moon. While waiting in line for Karen to buy a T-shirt, I looked over and saw Neil Hopkins standing in the next line with his lovely wife.  He is now living in Las Vegas  and works for Brinks because he was bored being retired.

This was the view from our seats in the bleachers.

I've never been a big Rascal Flatts fan, but they put on a great live concert.  They hit the stage right at 8:00 PM and played without a break for almost two hours.  They had a young guy playing the fiddle and harmonica.  He was great on both.

Before the concert we went to dinner at an Italian restaurant in the Tropicana Express Casino.  We got a young male waiter on his first night on his own.  We should have left at that point.  He screwed it all up.  He didn't have the timing thing down yet and it took us an hour and a half to eat.  He came by our table and picked up our salad plates and told us he would put our pizza order in now.  He he brought out our pizza about 30 minutes later and it had pineapple instead of pepperoni.  The manager came to our table and apologized and gave us a 25% discount.
