Jack and I hiked to Day Creek on Monday.  It is located in the mountains S/E of Hisperia.  It is off of Main St., then a dirt road, to another dirt road, to another dirt road.  It is then a 2 mile walk down into a canyon.  Once there, we found a large swimming hole fed by a river and several hot pools fed from springs that just bubble out of the rocks.

There were about 20-25 people there, with more arriving in the afternoon as we left. Swim suits are optional, and we saw folks in varying degrees of dress.  The area in the foreground of the photo above is one of the hot pools.  It was too hot to sit in very long.  As you can imagine, the water coming down the river was very cold.

Three of the hot springs are in the rock formation shown above.  At the end of the day, we had to make the 2 mile hike back up out of the canyon, which for me was a killer.  I was constantly out of breath, and was never so glad to see my car off in the distance.

Other than the long hike back, the day was quite nice.  We're hoping to find another way into the canyon that doesn't entail the 2 mile hike. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a "hippy hollow" type swimming hole and doesn't mind a steep hike.
