Alabama chief judge suspended over his effort to block same-sex marriages
Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore finally got what was coming to him for ordering the state's probate judges to defy a Supreme Court ruling and deny marriage licenses to same-sex couples. Kent Faulk writes:
The Alabama Court of the Judiciary (COJ) issued the order Friday suspending Moore from the bench for the remainder of his term after an unanimous vote of the nine-member board.
"For these violations, Chief Justice Moore is hereby suspended from office without pay for the remainder of his term. This suspension is effective immediately," the order stated.
The court found him guilty of all six charges of violation of canon of judicial ethics. Moore's term is to end in 2019. Gov. Robert Bentley will name a replacement for Moore.

In case you don't think racism is alive and well today:
Michael Rose-Ivey, who plays football for Nebraska, was surprised at the tenor of responses he received after he and two other players took a knee during the National Anthem.
He said, ""Some believed DaiShon, Mohamed and myself should be kicked off the team or suspended, while some said we deserved to be lynched or shot just like the other black people that have died recently," the Cornhusker remarked as he choked up. "Another believed that since we didn't want to stand for the anthem, we should be hung before the anthem for the next game."
A prime example of why they took a knee in the first place.

A perfect example of the systemic racism being carried out today. In Texas they voted to make it mandatory to have a state ID card and then closed all the DMV's in the areas that serve the poor and minorities. De-funding the Planned Parenthood clinics is another example of systemic racism in that it hampers the ability of the minorities and the poor to receive medical care. And on and on it goes.

A Little History
I'm reading this book on my Kindle app to learn about the treatment of the American Indian in California. It's quite an eye opening read. I don't remember reading any of this in my American History class in high school.
Seems John Sutter owned a sawmill in Sacramento along the American River when gold was discovered. Here's a quote from the book, "Sutter's method of feeding his California Indian laborers shocked pre-gold rush visitors. James Clyman wrote that Sutter "keeps from 600 or 800 Indians in a state of complete slavery, and ... I had the mortification of seeing them dine[:] 10 or 15 troughs, 3 or 4 feet long were brought out of the cook room, and seated in the broiling sun, all the laborers great and small, ran to the troughs like so many pigs, and fed themselves, with their hands, as long as the troughs contained even a moisture."
A second quote, "The laboring or field Indians about the fort are fed upon the offal (entrails or internal organs) of slaughtered animals, and upon the bran sifted from the ground wheat. This was placed in wooden troughs standing in the court, around which the several messes seat themselves and scoop out with their hands this poor fodder. It was hardly the "good soup", roasted and fried meat dishes with onions, bread, cheese, butter and melons, that Sutter served Bryant in seperate courses on china with silver utensils that evening."

OAKLAND, CA — As the controversy grows over professional athletes choosing not to stand during the national anthem to protest what they see as police brutality and the targeting of minorities by police, one group of teens in California is joining the ranks of those protesting.
On Tuesday, the Oakland Unified School District honor band played the Star Spangled Banner before the Oakland Athletics game and most of the middle and high school students who make up the band chose to kneel during their performance to join the growing protest.
