Wichita, Kansas - Scott Roeder, 52, received a mandatory sentence of life in prison Thursday for killing abortion doctor Dr. George Tiller and won't be eligible for parole for 50 years.

Defiant to the end, Roeder said, "I stopped him so he could not dismember another baby." Roeder added, "Wichita is a far safer place for unborn babies without George Tiller."

You may recall that Roeder walked into the Reformation Lutheran Church in Wichita, Kansas and shot Dr. Tiller in the head from point blank range while Dr. Tiller served as an usher. Roeder was arrested within three hours of the shooting and never denied being the shooter.

I hope this stiff sentence sends a message to other pro-life activists that they can't take the law into their own hands because of their religious beliefs.
