She broke the law!  She's well aware!
The sentence, then, is more than fair!
She drove the car; she took the trip;
She gets ten lashes with a whip!

America, just save your breath;
Last week, you put three men to death.

Josh and I went to a Los Angeles Kings pre-season hockey game at the Staple Center Sunday evening. The Kings lost to the Anaheim Ducks, but we had a great time.

On September 23rd, the "Backyard Skeptics" of Orange County, California, put up this billboard on the W/B 22 freeway at Valley View.  A second billboard is posted on Chapman Ave. east of the 55 freeway.  I'll have to take a drive to Orange County on my days off this week.  For more on the "Backyard Skeptics see: http://www.meetup.com/Backyard-Skeptics/

This is one brave cop in my opinion.  I'm proud of him.  I wonder how his co-workers are handling it?

This is a pretty good site for political news.  You can find it at http://thepoliticalcarnival.net/

According to the Department of Agriculture the cost of raising a child from birth to age 18, for a middle-income two-parent family averaged $226,920 last year.  That's not for designer strollers or organic formula, but just providing the child with the basics.  That figure is up $60,000 from ten years ago.
Remember all the hoopla, all the whoop-dee-doo, all the Islamaphobic slurs and the right wing attacks, all the 24/7 controversy by the media?  Well the so called "Ground Zero Mosque" opened Wednesday without so much as a peep from protesters or whiff of controversy.

Yes, the Park 51 Islamic Center opened and no evil terrorists took it over or launched an attack against the United States from its bowels.  Its amazing how the media can whip up people's emotions.

USC Marching Band - Tusk
According to Kentucky.com, Pulaski County has paid $231,662 to cover its share of costs in a legal battle the county lost over attempts to post copies of the Ten Commandments in the courthouse. The American Civil Liberties Union of Kentucky received the check according to a news release. The county fiscal court took out a loan to pay the bill.

The payment ends Pulaski County's part in the court fight that lasted more than 11 years, in which a federal judge ruled that Pulaski and McCreary counties posting of the Ten Commandments violated the Constitution.

McCreary County Officials are soliciting donations to help pay their part of the cost of the suit and have raised $20,000.  Letters have been sent to organizations such as Focus on the Family and Trinity Broadcasting for assistance.  Perhaps they will learn. http://www.kentucky.com/2011/09/09/1875644/pulaski-pays-230000-in-fees-in.html

According to thinkprogress.org, Joe Arpaio, "America's toughest sheriff," has assigned a five-member "Cold Case Posse" to investigate the authenticity of President Barack Obama's birth certificate.  Sheriff Arpaio states that this investigation does not involve politics, but is in response to a complaint filed by the Surprise, Arizona, Teaparty.  The complaint alleges that President Obama may be using a forged birth certificate.

The Cold Case Posse is an officially-sponsored all-volunteer group of people with skills and backgrounds that make them qualified to investigate cases.  The group has been inactive in recent months due to budgetary limitations within the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.

I guess the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office feels this is a responsible use of county funds.  I thought this whole birther thing was dead?  I guess not!!!  http://thinkprogress.org/justice/2011/09/19/322590/gop-kingmaker-sheriff-tasks-cold-case-posse-with-investigating-obamas-birth-certificate/
Go to church or go to jail??
September 24, 2011 1:12 P.M.

Commit a misdemeanor in Bay Minette, Alabama, population 7,726-- and its possible to stay out of jail by going to church.

The new policy in municipal court begins next week.  The program is called Operation Restore Our Community and is "being praised as a potential opportunity to turn lives around."  Non-violent offenders can chose to attend a local church every Sunday for a year in lieu of serving time in county jail.  Fifty-six local pastors are enthusiastic about the program.

I hope that this program proves to be a success, but the skeptic in me sees some problems inviting all these crooks into your church.  Those of us who have worked with the criminal element know how good they are at conning folks.

The atheist in me sees this as nothing more than a program to boost church attendance and collect the  10% tithe from those required to attend.  Its also quite amazing that there are 56 local churches in a city of 7,726 people!!!

Clint Eastwood was interviewed in GQ magazine on October 12, 2011. During the interview, Eastwood gave his views on same-sex marriage.

"These people who are making a big deal about gay marriage? I don't give a fuck about who wants to get married to anybody else! Why not? We're making a big deal out of things we shouldn't be making a big deal out of."

"They go on and on with all this bullshit about sanctity -- don't give me that sanctity crap. Just give everybody the chance to have the life they want."

I feel the need to add one word.  Punk!!!

Karen and I went to a Colony H.S. preseason football game Friday night. It was tied 14-14 when we pulled ahead with an 80-yard run for a touch down. Final score: 21-14.

The Colony H.S. Titan Regiment performed during half time.  I love to watch marching bands.

Even got to see a few bolts of lightning off to the south-east.
To add a touch of class to this blog, this is called "Star Wars French Ballet Disco." Enjoy!!
Happy Birthday wishes go out to Los Angeles Dodgers center fielder Matt Kemp who turns 27 years old today. Matthew Ryan Kemp was born in Midwestern City, Oklahoma. Matt is single and once dated pop singer Rihanna.

Matt attended Midwest City HS where he played baseball and basketball.  He was teammates with Sheldon Williams of the New York Knicks and they won the state basketball championship in Matt's junior year.

Matt is in the top three in the National League in batting average, runs batted in, and home runs, which when brought together comprise the Triple Crown.  While he won't win the Triple Crown this year, he could walk away with the National League MVP award.

This explains a lot doesn't it??
Today is the first day of fall, the Autumn Equinox. Also known as Mabon, it is the major harvest festival and time of counting down to winter. Today, day and night are of equal length.

On the other side of the world, they are celebrating the arrival of Spring.  Those of us who live in the Northern Hemisphere often forget that the other side of the world is opposite of us.
