Violence
Men and
women dressed in blue,
The latest
victims of you know who.
“Violence”
reared its ugly head again,
On the
streets of Dallas to our chagrin.
Violence
knows he’s a two-edged sword,
Love him or
hate him, we’re all on board.
Century
after century at what a cost,
Basic
humanity seems all but lost.
We loved him
when he killed Sadam,
Or torched
the hooches in Vietnam.
We loved him
when he killed the witch,
Or punished
the slave with a leather switch.
We hate him
when he takes one of “us,”
Then we
scream and holler and raise a fuss.
How dare he
act with such maliciousness,
When
carrying out an act of such viciousness.
Centuries of
Violence - millions of lives lost,
Man’s
inhumanity to man – an intolerable cost.
How do we
stop him, whatever is the cure?
Because
Violence will strike again, of this I am sure.
