Words! Mere words! How terrible they were! How clear, and vivid, and cruel. One could not escape from them. And yet what a subtle magic there was in them! They seemed to be able to give a plastic form to formless things, and to have a music of their own as sweet as that of viol or of lute. Mere words! Was there anything so real as words?

Today tRUMP told a group of state governors that he would have run into the school and confronted the shooter even if he didn't have a gun. He also continues to belittle the school resource officer for not going into the school building with his handgun and taking on the shooter armed with an AR-15.
Sadly, the sheriff didn't protect his deputy in all this. He hung him out to ridicule before all the facts were in, making him tRUMP's scapegoat.
Bottom line - Republicans continue to try to change the subject and place the blame on anyone or anything except guns. The school kids aren't having it.

tRUMP would have you believe that taking on an armed school shooter is just this easy. One shot from a 4", 6-shot revolver, from 50 yards away, with no regard for people standing in the background, and the suspect goes down in a heap. Not so.
I'm also sad for the school resource officer who was at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School the day of the shooting who is said to have taken no action. tRUMP today called him a coward and felt that he had no love for the students. This SRO was a 30-year police veteran who had been an SRO for many years. Perhaps taking a protected position and waiting for backup wasn't cowardice but in fact a smart move. He chose to retire after being suspended, perhaps thinking I don't need this bullshit. (my words) He hasn't given a statement, just branded a coward.

Students are rallying outside the state capital in Tallahassee, Florida, today to speak to state lawmakers about gun control. Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Florence Yared stated, "many students throughout the country can't wait to go vote, can't wait to run for office, to make a change, to make a safer world. You adults have failed us by not creating a safe place for your children to go to school. So we -- the next generation -- will not fail our own kids."
