Grumpy Old Men

Grumpy old men is a popular meme,

Meant to be funny, or so it would seem.

But you won’t get a laugh from the one in its grip,

More often than not his middle finger he will flip.

It’s all about pain, its a never-ending bout,

A constant companion day in and day out.

This pain and that pain, it boggles the mind,

With no relief in sight that you’re likely to find.

That pain in the back; makes it hard to stand straight,

Or the one in your left knee that just won’t abate.

The sizzling feet are a challenge to be sure,

And the arthritis in they're wrist for which there’s no cure.

There’s the PTSD from when they went off to war,

Depression and anxiety and oh so much more.

The constant reminders of the things that they’ve seen,

Things that they did when still just a teen.

If they go to the doc he will give them some pills,

That seems the answer for everyone’s ills.

They may hit the bottle or smoke ‘em a joint.

Surviving the journey is really the point.

So you might reconsider or cut them some slack,

Those grumpy old men with the ache in their back.

Cuz pain is their partner on their journey through each day,

Just give them a wave then get out of their way.
