The “ruling elite” are becoming nervous as their knee on the
neck of “the people” is beginning to slip.
The police, the enforcement arm of the “ruling elite,” are becoming more
and more brutal in their effort to stem the tide against their masters. The head of the “ruling elite,” President
Trump, has come out and threatened the use of Federal troops to quell the uprising
against him and his “ruling elite” buddies.
He offers no empathy for George Floyd or tries to offer a calming voice
to the nation because “the people” are only seen as a necessity for the life of
capitalism. The “ruling elite” only need
“the people” to go to work to make their products and buy their products, so
they can buy another yacht.
This protest is not just about the shameful death of George
Floyd, but a protest by “the people” against a system titled against them and their
uphill fight for equality. It’s a fight against bosses paying minimum wage and
hiring part time so people can’t get medical benefits. It’s about the taking
away of unemployment if they refuse to go back to work while still in the midst
of a pandemic. It’s about voter suppression. It’s about the taking away of food
stamps and school meals. It’s about the
closing of Planned Parenthood clinics all across the nation depriving women of
much needed medical attention. It’s about landlords quick to raise rents or
evict even when they won’t lift a hand to repair the problems. It’s about the busting
of unions who are fighting for workers benefits. The list goes on and on.
So yes, lets have a conversation about police
brutality. Lets discuss “blue lives
matter”, and the culture within many police departments which puts cops in the “us
vs. them” mind set. But lets not let
this one symptom of the disease of inequality be the only conversation. If this is going to be a time of great
change, lets not limit the scope of the conversation but look at the many, and
complex, issues involved. Lets think
outside the box for answers to decades old problems.
We “the people”, are uprising against the system and its time for change.
