Met my son Scott for lunch today at Canter's Deli. If you've never been to Canter's, you've missed a true cultural experience. It's in the middle of the Fairfax District in Los Angeles. The food is served in large portions, with a plate of kosher pickles, by waitresses who are old and grumpy. LOL. Just what I need right, someone who will trade barbs with me over a great sandwich. I was good and had an egg salad sandwich instead of their delicious Reuben sandwich. Great food!! Great company!! Great time!!

I think I've mentioned before that I've started doing yoga. I stop for a break on my bike rides or do it at the end of the ride, depending on where the park is located on my ride that day. I also try to do it at home on my rest days. I have incorporated many of the stretches I learned from Dr. Dan for my back and about a dozen yoga moves into about a half hour routine. It works up a good sweat. I also have found that it feels good to do it bare foot in the grass.
I've noticed some improvement. I used to be able to get into the pose shown above as a kid, but can't quite get there these days. I will know improvement when I can get into this one. Perhaps even a headstand some day!!!
Give it a try. I highly recommend it. Here's a website I've found to be quite instructive, and there are no nudes, dispite the "unusual" name. http://fuckyeahyoga.tumblr.com.
I enjoy silence. More often than not while I'm in the living room surfing on the Internet, I don't have the TV or any music on in the background. While I have an IPod shuffle, an IPod touch, a stereo that plays radio stations and Cd's in my car, I usually drive in silence. I do frequently listen to music while riding my bike. As I write this post, I am home alone, no TV or music. I enjoy silence.

The initial headline was that President Obama was booed at the USA basketball game the other night. This, of course, was to balance out the fact that Mitt Romney was booed last week at a speech before the NAACP when he said he would veto the Obama Care Act.
Truth be known, President Obama and First Lady Michelle, were captured on the "Kiss Cam" at the basketball game and booed when they didn't kiss. But anyone who has ever been to a sporting event knows that everyone who doesn't kiss for the "Kiss Cam" gets booed. Given a second try, the President laid a "big one" on the First Lady.
Gotta love a guy who isn't afraid to give his sweetie a big smooch on camera!!!
Took a header (literally) off my bike this morning at Bonelli Park. This is the only damage to my bike, along with a new squeak from the back wheel.
Injuries were minor - sore wrists, sore left hand, and several abrasions from my helmet.
I ride down this hill two times for each figure 8 I make around the lake/airport. I usually reach about 16-17 mph down the hill. Today was no different.
At the end of the hill is this blind right turn. I've never encountered anyone in this turn before. Until today!! I started into this turn and there was another bike in my path. I veered to the left and grabbed my brakes. I missed the other bike, but over the handlebars I went and into the bushes. I landed on my left shoulder and head. It was my fault, as I was going too fast into the turn. The other rider stopped and inquired about my injuries.
" They" say of motorcycle riders that there are only two kinds. Those who have fallen and those who will fall. Its easy to see that mountain bikes are no different. This is not my first fall, and I'm sure it won't be my last. I will respect this corner more in the future.
