Meet Miss America 2013, Miss New York, 23 year old Mallory Hagan. Miss Hagan is from Brooklyn, New York, and a student at the Fashion Institute of Technology studying Advertising, Marketing, and Communications.

 

During the question & answer portion of the competition, Miss Hagan was asked about gun control and armed security on school campuses.  She answered, ""I don't think the proper way to fight violence is with violence," Hagan responded. "I think the proper way is to educate people on guns and the ways we can use them properly. We can lock them up, we can have gun safety classes, we can have a longer waiting period."

During the talent competition, Miss Hagan performed a tap dance routine to James Brown's "Get up Off of That Thing."
