A Journey

I took a quick left at hither and yon,
Steps built of books, some pro and some con.
Where do they lead and where do they end,
Who are the authors and why were they penned.

Let’s lift up a cover and turn the first page,
Delve into the mind of some ancient sage
We’ll learn of his loves, his loses, his pain,
Cry out for his anguish, rejoice in his gain.

We’ll learn that he conquered; we’ll learn that he bled,
We’ll learn he was great, of this it was said.
We’ll live his adventures, take them as ours,
Bask in the pages, for hours and hours.

Each step’s an adventure, just open a cover,
From this book to that, no one like the other.
Each step that you climb encourages one more,
Eager, ye anxious, for all that’s in store.
