Next weekend Karen and I are heading to Phoenix for spring training.  We're going to see a Dodger game Friday evening, an Arizona Coyotes Hockey game on Saturday evening, and an Angels game on Sunday afternoon.

Spring Means Baseball

Spring is coming quickly; it’s just around the bend,
Flowers will be blooming, and chicks are in the hen.
But for me it’s different, it's more than runny noses,
For me spring means baseball, and all that it proposes.

Little leagues are forming, getting shirts and hats,
Kids have gotten out their gloves, and dusted off their bats.
One Coach running fielding drills, fungo bat in hand,
Another pitching batting practice, “Where did that one land?”

Big leaguers already out at camp, speculation running high,
Working out the aches and pains, “Dive for that pop fly!”
Rookies hoping for a chance to make “The Bigs” this year,
Leaping up against the wall, he’s really good it’s clear.

My wife and I are heading east, to the “Valley of the Sun”,
Phoenix means spring training, it’s sure to be great fun.
We’ll bring our gloves and catch a ball, “Uh oh, watch your beer,”
Spring means time for baseball, opening day is near!
