Terror in the Streets

Nail bombs in the public square,
Innocent people gathered there.
A deafening explosion
Searing heat
Sudden chaos in the street.

Women scream and babies cry,
Can’t escape, caught in the fray.
Shattered glass
Smoke chocked air
Devastation everywhere.

Bloodied victims lay in shock,
Scattered up and down the block.
Gaping wounds
Loss of limb
Carnage in the street again.

Corpses stare off in the air,
Spark of life no longer there.
Trauma blanket
Covered face
Putrid death found everyplace.

A deadly scene all too familiar
Not unlike a movie thriller.
Naked hatred
No remorse
Terror offers no recourse.
