Legendary college basketball coach John Wooden died today at the age of 99 years old. John Wooden led the U.C.L.A. Bruins to 10 NCAA championships.

I used to watch replays of the U.C.L.A. games on channel 11 back in the late 60's and early 70's when Lew Alcinder, aka Kareem Abdul Jabar, was playing for the Bruins. John Wooden could always be seen holding the team lineup, hence the photo to the right.

John Wooden also wrote several books and was a very successful motivational speaker after retiring from basketball. He could always be seen sitting at U.C.L.A. home games and they would set up a rope line for people who wanted to get his autograph.
