My body reminded me that I'm 60 years old this week after my four mile hike in the mountains on Monday. My legs were so sore this week that I could hardly walk and needed to hoist myself up from my chair at work. Getting in and out of the car was a chore, and I won't bore you with getting up from the toilet. The legs are better today, so I don't have an excuse to not cut the front lawn. Should be back on my bike Sunday for a ride to the beach.

Jack and I hiked to Day Creek on Monday. It is located in the mountains S/E of Hisperia. It is off of Main St., then a dirt road, to another dirt road, to another dirt road. It is then a 2 mile walk down into a canyon. Once there, we found a large swimming hole fed by a river and several hot pools fed from springs that just bubble out of the rocks.
There were about 20-25 people there, with more arriving in the afternoon as we left. Swim suits are optional, and we saw folks in varying degrees of dress. The area in the foreground of the photo above is one of the hot pools. It was too hot to sit in very long. As you can imagine, the water coming down the river was very cold.

Three of the hot springs are in the rock formation shown above. At the end of the day, we had to make the 2 mile hike back up out of the canyon, which for me was a killer. I was constantly out of breath, and was never so glad to see my car off in the distance.
Other than the long hike back, the day was quite nice. We're hoping to find another way into the canyon that doesn't entail the 2 mile hike. I recommend it to anyone who is looking for a "hippy hollow" type swimming hole and doesn't mind a steep hike.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Russian tennis star/model Maria Yuryevna Sharapova who turned 25 years old on April 19th.
Maria was born in Nyagan, Russia, but has lived in the U.S. since she was 7 years old. She currently has homes in Manhattan Beach, Ca. and Netanya, Israel. Maria is engaged to Slovenian professional basketball player Sasha Vujacic who plays in Istanbul, Turkey.
I was surprised to read that Maria is 6'2" tall!!
Did I mention Maria plays tennis??

One of my favorite baseball color men was Rex Hudler, shown here on the right with Steve Physoioc when they were with the Angels. This teams contract wasn't renewed in 2009. I found him today as the color man for the Kansas City Royals.
"Hud" was famious for his many quotes. He called hits knocks, and would say "pilot to bombadiar" when a homerun was hit. He was a bit ADD I think as he was always tossing a baseball in his hand in the booth. Good to see him back.
