This is an actual signboard posted outside a church in Blacklick, Ohio recently. The message refers to a chart-topping song by pop artist Katy Perry called, "I Kissed a Girl." The song apparently refers to a kiss between two girls.

The Pastor, David Allison, says the video that goes with the song "borders on pornography." Allison went on to say that he thought that the sign would be a "loving way to remind teenagers that the bible denounces homosexuality." I have never heard of the song or seen the video.

That reminds me, over the weekend a nice young man came to my door to ask my opinion of the ballot measure on same sex marriage coming up for a vote in November. Our conversation went something like this;

Me: "Are you for or against the measure?"

Him: "I'm against it."

Me: "Are you happily married?" (spying the wedding ring on his left hand)

Him: "Yes I am."

Me: "Well then why would you deny that same happiness to a same sex couple?"

Him: "Well this isn't about equal rights."

Me: "It isn't? Well then what's it about?"

Him: "The bible states that marriage is between a man and a woman."

Me: "Oh you mean that book of myths written 2000 years ago by who knows who?"

Him: (Visually shaken) So I guess I can assume that you're against the measure." (Turns and walks away.)
