Celebrated Karen's birthday last night. She has been under the weather all week, so her birthday celebration was a low key affair.
We went to dinner at Chili's Restaurant and were joined by Josh and Corey. Karen had her favorite salmon with broccoli dinner, I had chicken tacos.
After dinner we had chocolate cake. Karen received some girly stuff from Bath and Body and some Sketchers walking shoes. A good time was had by all and she remained 29 years old again this year.
It was a beautiful day for a bike ride. The skies were crystal clear and temps were in the low 60's. There was no one on the lake so it looked smooth as glass.

I went out this evening at 8:10 PM to see if it had cooled off enough to turn off the air conditioner and open up the doors and windows and saw a bright light next to the moon that wasn't moving. I remembered once before seeing a similar light and finding out it was the planet Venus.
Well tonight it is the planet Jupiter next to the moon. I wish I had a good enough camera to take a picture of it. Perhaps I will be able to find a photo of it in the morning on the Internet. But this depiction shows exactly what I saw tonight.
Is that awesome or what?
After many sittings at the local Barnes and Nobel stores, I finished reading Dan Brown's new book, "The Lost Symbol." It was very good and I can already see it in a movie soon.
The book follows Brown's character in "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels & Demons", Harvard University symbolist Robert Langdon. The plot takes place over a 12 hour period in Washington D.C. and involves the Smithsonian Institute, the Washington Monument, and United States Capitol, and a focus on the secrets of the Freemasons.
Many of the reviews of the book refer to it as a "page turner" and I have to agree. Lots of surprises. I highly recommend it.
Amazing!!

This is an historical marker in the park where some group of settlers crossed the river back in 1774. I didn't see any of them near the river today!!
I found this memorial along the bike path. There are a lot of dirt bike trails in the area and I would bet he died on a motorcycle rather than a bicycle on the bike path.

There was a lot of water in the river today. Run off from the recent rains no doubt. I don't think I have ever seen this much water in this little river before.
Took a break in the park between trips east and ate a banana and drank some (lots) of water. The park is a really nice park with a small lake in the middle. Lots of people walking, jogging, etc.
My bike now has over 2,000 miles on it. I think it's time to take it in for a checkup. I know the back wheel needs to be straightened. Just put new tires and tubes on a couple of weeks ago. I will have to wash off all the really cool mud that I got on it today!! Mountain bikes need mud!!

Bristol is now a national spokesperson for abstinence only sex education for minors in the school setting. However Bristol told Fox News that abstinence for teens is "not realistic for all."
