Prop 8

It's sad to realize that the voters in California have more compassion for chickens and how they are treated than how gay and lesbian couples are treated.

According to KNX1070.com, California proposition - 2, the "treatment of farm animals" ballot issue was passed by a vote of 63% to 37%. So now we can breath easier knowing that chickens are more comfortable when laying our eggs.

On the other hand, California proposition - 8, the "same sex marriage ban" ballot issue passed 52% to 48% denying the right of same sex couples to marry. I understand that law suits have already been filed asking the California Supreme Court to look at the measure. It would seam to be a no-brainer to see that it's unconstitutional, just as the last same sex marriage case was found to be.

In Arkansas the voters passed a ballot measure, Arkansas Act 1, which bans unmarried couples from adopting or foster parenting. This measure was apparently directed towards gay and lesbian couples. I read that Arkansas has 3700 children in the foster care system and only 1000 available homes. Such short sightedness is shameful.

It seems that we have made great strides in conquering the race issue in this election, but still have a hard time with equal rights to gays and lesbians.

Well it looks like there is a protest going on right now in LA against the Morman Church.
