The Reader

Grab a good book,
A hot cup of Joe.
A warm cozy spot,
You’re ready to go.

Throw open the cover,
Digest the first line.
Lost in adventure,
A stoppage of time.

Read the next line,
And the one after that.
Tome stones of variety,
That never go flat.

Another cup of Java,
The sun setting fast.
Chapter after chapter,
Long shadows are cast.

Closing the cover,
The last sentence read.
A delightful interlude,
Played out in his head.
