I watched the interviews of Senator McCain and Obama by Pastor Rick Warren at Saddleback Church on Saturday evening. In fact I watched them twice to make sure I got a good sense of what had been said.

As you can well imagine people's opinions of which candidate won run pretty much along party lines. I found that Senator Obama seemed to give his answers some thought before answering where as Senator McCain seemed to have canned answers that he spouted off without much thought.

As an example, both candidates were asked where they stood on abortion. Senator McCain said that life begins at conception and that he is pro-life and would have pro-life doctrines in his administration. Senator Obama answered, "whether you're looking at it from a theoretical or scientific perspective, answering that question with specificity is above my pay grade." He went on to say that, "if you believe that life begins at conception and you are consistent in that belief, then I can't argue with you because that is a core faith for you. What I can say, are there ways that we can work together to reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies?"

I will vote for Senator Obama, but I have some real fears for our nation's future.
