In a grand stand move, President Bush snuck off to Baghdad, Iraq, over the weekend to chat with the troops and hob knob with the local diplomats. His farewell tour was greeted with mixed reactions including having a shoe thrown at him by a local journalist. Muthathar al Zaidi, an Iraqi journalist threw both his shoes at President Bush and shouted, "this is a goodby kiss, you dot!" I understand that both the soul of a shoe and reference to the dog are major insults in the Iraqi world.

Protests erupted outside, as would be expected. Not because of the insult to President Bush, but because they want the journalist released from jail and President Bush out of the country.

Odd way for the president of an invading country to be treated wouldn't you say???

"I don't think you can take one guy throwing shoes and say this represents a broad movement in Iraq," Bush said in response to a question. "You can try to do that if you want to. I don't think it would be accurate."

Now I've found out that Dana Perino, the White House Press Secretary, suffered a black eye after being hit in the eye with a microphone while journalists subdued the rabid shoe thrower. Sounds like a good Workman's comp claim to me!!!

Where was the Secret Service agent to throw his body in front of the president??? He would have been a shoe-in for a promotion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha ha ha ha. I crack myself up sometimes!!!
