To Be Alive

To be alive is to feel the cool crisp autumn breeze
caress your cheeks, the chill piercing your skin
like a million tiny needles, sending shivers up and
down your spine.

To be alive is to hear the wind rustling through
the trees, whispering farewell to the leaves  as
they depart on their final journey,  drifting languidly
to the ground, crunching triumphantly under
your boots.

To be alive is to see the blazing sun sitting low in the sky,
Painting the leaves in glorious reds and stunning golds,
causing spacious lawns to surrender their green carpet,
signaling to the world with its slanted rays that a time
of slumber is fast approaching.

To be alive is to acknowledge the seasons of change
occurring in and around you. Breath deep the
atmosphere of change that hints of new beginnings.
Feel the tingle of anticipation of new challenges that
lie ahead.  Listen to that wee small voice inside you that
whispers encouragement for a bright new tomorrow.

Be alive.
