A Passover Seder

On Saturday evening Karen and I were honored by being invited to my son Scott and his partner Bruce's home for a Seder meal. A Seder meal is a Jewish ritual feast celebrated on usually the first or second night of the Jewish holiday Passover. The Seder meal is celebrated in remembrance of the freeing of the Israelites from the bondage of slavery in Egypt.

The meal involves reading the story of the exodus from Egypt from a book called the Haggadah. During the ceremony there are prayers, songs song in both English and Hebrew, lots of wine, and specific foods (see photo) are eaten to symbolize certain events. It was all very interesting to participate in. All this was followed by an incredible meal the included matzo ball soup and brisket. A great time was had by all.
